Thanksgiving Party at the Chesterfield Mobile Home Park
What are you thankful for this year? Family? Friends? Food? Minecraft? These are some of the things the children in our tutoring program said they were thankful for when we gathered for a Thanksgiving party this past Saturday morning. A community group from The Journey Church in St. Louis hosted the party for the children and families we work with in our Hispanic Outreach programs. The group brought a generous spread of warm, home-cooked food ranging from mashed potatoes and gravy to green beans and turkey.
An engaging mix of around 45 children and adults gathered for the party. Members from the church community group and the mobile home community sat together around tables eating lunch and getting to know each other better. As adults prepared the meal, some kids played basketball together outside while others colored pictures of turkeys and pilgrims at a nearby picnic table. After lunch, volunteers helped the kids create Thanksgiving-themed picture frames and packaged left-overs to send home with guests.
We are thankful for times like this party when we can share meals, laughter, and community. Thanks to all who played a part!
